GOOD MORNING AMERICA
Recorded / Mixed: April/May 1981 at Livingston Studios London.
Producer: Terry Thomas.
Line-up: Terry Thomas/ John Anderson/ Steve Gadd/ Bob Henrit/ John Verity.
With no deal for the band, and even less money than usual, Julian and Eugene relocated to LA. A trial recording session with John Verity and Bob Henrit from the band Phoenix resulted in Roll The Dice which generated a tougher sound with the Charlie vocals - the two bands merged into one. The album was financed by the then manager Dave Thomas and recorded for very little money.
We got a worldwide deal with RCA. Livingston was a great studio in a converted church and had a much liver sound than Trident,
Memories: smashing glass for the intro of I’m Angry With You. Getting drunk in the pub when the 24-track machine broke down (which was quite often) and then going back and trying to record. Some of those tapes still exist I believe.
Technical Notes
MAIN ROOM: Neve 1073 Console, 24 track Lyrec, Eastlake monitors.
