IN PURSUIT OF ROMANCE

In Pursuit of Romance
1985, Mirage/Atlantic (USA).
Recorded and Mixed: July/Aug 1985 at Terminal Studios London. Producer: Terry Thomas.
Line-up: Terry Thomas.

The contractual album. The failure of Charlie (The Album) to generate any significant sales) meant no interest at all in this album. In hindsight it would have been better for the record company to have just paid their contractual obligation and not required the album. Management having spent money on the previous album wanted to recoup their expenses - the advance for the album was $125000 - the album was made for no more than $35000.

By this time Terry was the only member left! Terry wrote some songs some with Felix Krish and embarked on the album with various friends/session guys playing the parts. There are a couple of songs Terry says he likes, but others he hates now but didn't at the time. The experience ultimately put Terry in hospital as the deadline was so tight he had to complete it on his own. Towards the end of mixing Terry was carted off in an ambulance.

The day the album was released Mirage records folded thus proving the whole exercise, ultimately, pointless.

Memories: trying to do lead vocals with someone operating a jackhammer in the next building. Huge thunderstorms that took out all the power.
